December 21st – Visit Ranua arctic wildlife park
Today we visit the most northern wildlife park in the world. See all wild animals living in Lapland and polar bears. Buffet lunch at the zoo. Beautiful winter scenery on the way and often wild reindeer are seen on the roads.
December 21nd – Snowmobile safari and ice fishing.
Today we learn to drive snowmobiles and try some ice fishing. Snowmobile driving is easy, all adults may drive or sit as passengers. We learn to use an ice drill and ice fishing equipment. Light lunch during the day.
December 23rd – Husky-dog driving and snowshoe trip
Introduction to huskies, driving and training. We have a husky driving safari in the wilderness. In the afternoon, we have a snowshoe trip in snowy forests. Good chances to see wild animals, their footprints and try this traditional way to move on snow. Light lunch during the day.
December 24th – Christmas Eve – Reindeer day
We have a trip to a local reindeer farm and a great sleigh ride there. After the safari the reindeer herder delivers the reindeer driving licenses as certificates of the visit. Light lunch included. Christmas tree decoration at the reindeer farm! See a huge tepee where people may sit around a living fire.
Spend a romantic evening and Christmas celebration dinner in your hotel and taste traditional Lapland delicacies. Christmas Eve is the day when Santa visits every family and hotel after the dinner. Exciting…
December 25th Christmas Day – Visiting the Arctic Circle and Santa Claus Village
Today we learn to know Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland and a real Christmas city. We cross the Arctic Circle and get a certificate of the crossing. You meet Santa Claus himself and may buy a picture with him. Lunch by your own in one of the restaurants in the area or sandwiches and warm drink by the guide included. Then you will have a chance to buy souvenirs in Santa Claus village and post your cards in Santa Claus post office. You also have a chance to meet Santa’s reindeer, visit Snowmobile museum, Elf’s Farm Yard, SnowMan World or any other attractions like snowmobile driving for children as options. Sightseeing in Rovaniemi, see also the ski jumping slopes and big frozen rivers.
December 26th Boxing day – Visit an ice restaurant and Arktikum museum.
Today we visit a real ice restaurant where even tables are made of ice. Warm beverages are offered in the ice bar. In the afternoon we visit Arktikum museum – the provincial museum of Lapland. Introduction to Sami culture and the life in the arctic. Northern Lights evening trip – hope we can witness this unique natural phenomenon on our famous Aurora tour!
