28.12. – Snowmobile safari and ice fishing
Introduction to snowmobiles, driving and safety. Let’s go for a snowmobile safari in the beautiful white landscape. Good opportunities for taking nature pictures and seeing very beautiful views. Light lunch is provided during the day. Experience ice fishing! Drilling ice holes and fishing trough the ice. With some luck we catch a fish and see an impressive sun set.
29.12. – Visit Ranua Wildlife Park
See all wild animals living in Lapland in an almost natural environment. Polar bears, lynxes, wolves, wolverines, golden eagles, snowy owls, arctic foxes, reindeer, moose and many other animals just feel it good to live in arctic climate. Lunch during the day. Don’t forget your camera!
30.12. – Husky safari and snowshoe trip
Today we visit a local husky farm and get familiar with huskies. You also learn how to drive a husky team. 1 hour driving safari in the wilderness, all adults may drive and those who prefer may sit as passengers. This is a ride of your life! Afterwards we make our way to go on a snowshoe trip in the snowy forest. We enjoy our lunch by open fire on the snowshoe trip. Listen to the sound of silence and enjoy the beauty of snowy taiga forest in the twilight time.
31.12. New Year’s Eve – Reindeer Day
Today we visit a local reindeer farm. Let’s go on a long reindeer safari in the snowy wilderness, together with local people living with reindeer and wearing traditional clothes. We also learn a lot about reindeer and wilderness life. Memorable and authentic day. Some free time in the afternoon before the great evening.
Festive dinner. There will be a rich buffet table full of Lapland delicacies in your hotel. After the dinner we will be transported to the wilderness and up the arctic hill for watching the Northern Lights and celebrating the New Year. Hopefully we have some luck and we could witness this northern phenomenon. We also experience some old Finnish shamanism and see our future in a piece of tin like locals 🙂 There will be fireworks at midnight, champagne. This is a New Year of a life time ! (To see Northern Lights you need some luck)
01.01. New Year’s Day
At noon we go visiting Santa Claus Village. Today we cross the Arctic Circle and get certificates of crossing. You meet Santa himself and may buy a picture of you and him together. You also have a chance to buy souvenirs at Santa Claus Village and post your cards in Santa Claus post office. Visit also the snowmobile museum and Elf’s Farm. See the biggest tourist attraction in Lapland. Lunch in Santa’s village.
Instead of Santa village you may choose Snowshoe Trip for Arctic Animals. See the taiga forests and the most impressive scenery on this rather challenging snowshoe trip up to the small mountain. Light barbeque lunch by open fire in a wooden teepee. The best view in southern Lapland!
02.01. – the Arktikum museum and Arctic Snow Hotel
Today we visit the Arktikum museum and Arctic Snow Hotel. See the provincial museum of Lapland and get familiar with Sami culture. See how people live in the arctic and follow a multimedia show about Northern Lights. Lunch. During the visit in the snow hotel you see a restaurant where even tables are made of ice.
